Kingston Carnival
It's an event that is organised by our Charity that gives our communities a much needed chance to come and enjoy the festival for the day. There is a procession which starts at 12 noon with Mas bands, drummers, entertainers and our community groups from different cultures. It starts at the Guildhall, does a loop through the town and back at the Guildhall, two stages with music, dance etc., children's area and food from different cultures. It's a non ticketed event and a family day out at little or no cost, just what is needed during these difficult times. It is done with very limited funding so rely a lot on volunteers who want to generously give back to their community.

Kingston Carnival brings together different local communities to experience a range of music and culture and food, in a family-friendly atmosphere. This year’s theme will focus on wellbeing and celebrating the communities living in the borough, with a joyful fun-filled programme for all ages. Starting at 12 noon the colourful Mas bands will parade from the Guildhall through the town centre to the Ancient Market Place. Highlights include family activities, two live music stages, a sound system, authentic street food from around the world and the Green Zone - a space devoted to showcasing environmental issues.

As it's a free event Kingston Carnival need all the help they can get to help it run smoothly. Last year we helped to decorate a truck to make it bright and colourful for the procession - they were very impressed with our handiwork and have asked to do the same again this year. Many hands make light work - are you available?

They have also asked if we could help with general setting up and preparation work so if you can stay to assist they would appreciate the extra hands.

Meet at the Guildhall at room 40 to find out what tasks are needed. The task owner is John and his telephone number is 07711 037181.
