Digging holes is HARD! So we're going again to try and put a few more holes in the ground next weekend. Join us if you can
GROW in Totteridge have asked for our help to dig 32 holes, 60cm deep by 50cm wide, to help support their new polytunnel. It's a nice, quantifiable workout for a Saturday morning.
We'll join a small group of volunteers and the farm manager, Chris at GROW - here's a map link: https://maps.app.goo.gl/Kmo6SPgVmuLzhY7f6
No equipment needed - they can even provide wellies if the weather's a bit soggy. But bring your own trainers/boots if you want.
You can stay for 90 minutes, but longer if you're enjoying yourself!
It's a great place to visit as well! If anyone wants to walk or run along the Dollis Valley Greenwalk, let us know in the comments here, Grow is very near to the path by Barnet Table Tennis Centre.
About GROW
From their website:
At GROW, we see the farm as a living system—where healthy soil, thriving plants, and local people all play a part in shaping a fairer, more connected food future.
We cultivate vegetables, herbs, flowers, fungi, and fruits for schools, the community, and education. We care for the land with a focus on biodiversity and natural balance. Our chickens and bees support natural fertilization and pollination, and provide valuable learning opportunities. Each year, we welcome hundreds of people through volunteering, programmes, and events.
By supplying local schools and embedding social justice in our food system through a solidarity pricing model, we make nutritious and sustainable food accessible to everyone, not just the privileged.
We are dedicated to creating a resilient, equitable, and accessible farm, open to all.
How are you getting there?

Well, as exciting as this was looking as a follow up, it turns out Chris and the GROW team have successfully managed to dig all but 4 of the holes this week.
So they don't actually need us for the follow up! However, Chris says he'll be in touch if there are more jobs they might need our support with in future.
