Gardening at the Royal School
Help maintain the outdoor space at this little school in the Great Park

For those of you new to Group Runs, this is a bit like a community mission (where we do Good) but with a bit more Gym thrown in. We all travel to and from the task on foot together and we will try to squeeze in a fun fitness session along the way too.
This evening's session is happening inside the beautiful Great Park, which will be a real treat!
The session will include the following:
Meet at Bishopsgate for a briefing and a quick warm up (free parking is available on the roadside near the park entrance).
Run or walk the 1.5km through the beautiful Great Park to reach the school. All paces are welcome and we will make sure no one gets left behind.
Help out with some gardening and outdoor maintenance at the school.
We all head back to Bishopsgate running and/or walking for a quick stretch and say our goodbyes. Along the way we hope to squeeze in a mini workout too. This will be suitable for all fitness levels.
The school was set up in 1843 by her majesty Queen Victoria, and with its links to the crown you might be wondering whether we will be stealing work away from the Royal Gardeners. Worry not, the school is funded by RBWM rather than the Royal Estate, and with only 100 pupils it doesn't command a large budget. Despite their stunning location, the school relies heavily on volunteers to upkeep their historical site.
Don't forget your gardening gloves!
How are you getting there?

As you may be aware, GoodGym have taken the difficult decision to postpone the return of Group Runs to keep everyone safe. The decision takes into account the new Delta variant of Covid-19, the change to the date for the next phase of the Government roadmap, and the fact that in many GoodGym areas, the task locations and the running routes the groups would need to take to get there, are in very busy and densely populated areas.
The good news is that we can carry on with community missions, so we are not cancelling this session completely, just the formal group run bit. You can still run, walk or cycle to the task and enjoy a productive and sociable evening of painting.
Sign ups will not carry over, so please click on this link to go to the new community mission listing and sign up: https://www.goodgym.org/happenings/gardening-at-the-royal-school-258e0944-fe2f-480a-9ca1-5c3d820701aa
Hope to still see you there! xx
