C-O-L-L-E-C-T - Find Out What it Means To Me. A Litter Collect - Just a Litter Bit.

Ipswich Report written by Ipswich runner

On a bright but chilly morning we welcomed Sophie, Chris, Amie, Sarah and Ben to their first taste of Goodgym. Hope you guys enjoyed it and might be able to join us on one of our group runs in the future

The aim of this starter session was to introduce new runners or those who can't make our regular Monday evening group runs to Goodgym - Mission accomplished!

It was fabulous to also welcome along Goodgym York trainer Egg - who managed to combine a visit to Suffolk with Goodgym and parkrun tourism!

We met at the Millenium Field - home to Kesgrave parkrun and many of us had run the parkrun prior to meeting up for this task on behalf of Kegrave Town Council.

After a brisk warm up and game of knee tag we set off for a run taking in a portion of the parkrun course - a return loop down to the pond and back.

Kesgrave Town Council had supplied us with litter pickers, bags and gloves for the task and we split into two groups to cover both sides of the Millenium Field and hedges. It has to be said the area was fairly clean and tidy but litter had gathered in hedges and and undergrowth. The biggest issued appeared to be dog poo that had not been picked up by some lazy dog owners - POO Alert - became a frequent warning!

A final sweep of the path up to the Jubilee Hall completed the task and we'd collected 5-6 bags - The fact that there wasn't loads of litter is a great reflection on the area given the huge footfall of parkrunners, footballers, dog walkers cyclists and local residents who use this beautiful green space every week.

Thanks to Sue for this morning's photos

Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Our next Group Run is on our regular Monday evening slot meet 6.30 at the University of Suffolk Waterfront Building
