What a great way to start the week!
Seven GG volunteers arrived promptly (or some 25 minutes before...) to the Salvation Army in Camberwell.
Catherine met us outside and told us all about how this Salvation Army centre has a baby bank and accommodates up to 100 women and family, who need the extra support with baby clothes, toys and amenities. Over the course of the lockdown, this has steadily increased, but equally so has the donations. That's what we were here for.... To sort out the donations.
Yet, there was still another task. The windows outside needed to be cleaned, so Katie and Marga eagerly volunteered to start outside. Whilst the rest of us: Nicky, Paulin, Liv, Sophie and I got our own working stations and starting sorting out through the bags of donations - clothes from 0 months to 7 years old as well as a variety of toys.
An hour and a half zoomed by as we sorted out through bags and bags of clothes. Catherine was so pleased with the work we did and expects us back to help out with more! Can't wait to come back!

Marga Villalonga earned their community cape by completing their first community mission.
Marga completed a community mission. Instead of watching TV or lying in bed, Marga was out there making their community a better place to be. For making that choice they have earned the community cape.

Marga Villalonga has done their first good deed with GoodGym.
Marga is a now a fully fledged GoodGym runner. They've just run to do good for the first time. They are out there making amazing things happen and getting fit at the same time.

It's finally feeling a bit normal as more GoodGym Community Missions start cropping up.
Tonight, six hardy GoodGymers met outside Bell House where they were greeted by Andy, who told them what tasks he had installed for them. We gave a warm welcome to Marga, who was invited by Victoria for her first GoodGym deed! Hoorrrrayyyy!
Just outside the gardens, there was a 500kg industrial size sack of sand with an extra 12 x 5kg bags on the side. Splitting up the task, we:
Ultimately and hopefully, in a few weeks' time that bog/pit will turn into a pond 😊🦆
With that task only taking 30 minutes to complete, Andy put us on the compost heap to take the old manure to fill up some garden beds around the beautiful gardens and move/turn over the newer manure. We had the delight in seeing all the bugs and insects come rushing out as they saw their homes being slowly destroyed. I guess we can't make everyone happy, but at least, Andy was. Impressed with our work and GoodGym style dedication to get stuck in, we will be sure to hear back from him for more tasks in the near future. And do you know what? We will respond to his call 💪
Thanks Frances, Laura, Marga, Pippa and Victoria for coming out tonight and hopefully, you had as much fun as I did 👀😝😊
