At our set off time of 5:30 there was horizontal, torrential rain. Not ideal running conditions. A few hardy folk still made it out of the door though and met up at the Coffee Cup.

We stayed in the warm for a little while and once we saw it slightly ease off we headed out of the door and into the wind. It was definitely bracing, the sea was stormy and the clouds were black and grey overhead. As we ran West the sun started to break through and the rain started to ease - although there were some pretty big puddles (lakes) on the prom.

We got to the Pyramids and saw the Amazon Treasure Truck with a slightly wet looking employee waiting for customers! Sadly no goodies for us as we carried on to the war memorial, stopped for a quick picture and then headed back along the sea wall towards the castle. As the sun came out behind us we were treated to a double rainbow, the full arc. It looked beautiful. Very appropriate for our run which was all about improving our mental health.

Lots of chat and a lovely hot chocolate afterwards to finish watching the sunset - a skyfull of reds, oranges, purples and pinks. Stunning.

I will finish with a quote from Dolly Parton:

If you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain
