Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
A swift six completed almost 8km and lifted grime at Beaufort Community Centre.
This was my first group run since the clocks went back and IT WAS DARK! So happy that you runners were undeterred by this. At points on the route out and back, the darkness added some excitement and mystery to our run as we were unaware of the hills that lay ahead. Thanks to Caprice and her mighty head torch - note to self to procure torches for next week.
We headed over towards Iford, sticking to the main roads. It felt a bit Noah’s Ark like as we ran two by two at an excellent pace.
The task this week was very warm, very light and very much indoors! The centre manager, Lyn, met us all and we were tasked with tackling windows and paintwork in one of the former classrooms that now serves as a great venue for community events.
Years of scuffs, coffee and crayon marks were lifted off the paintwork but we all agreed getting a paint brush to the walls would be very satisfying. Being such a big centre, we have many reasons to come back here and I have asked Lyn to request painting materials so we can make even more of an impact to the look of the centre.
Once finished, we ran back like we were newborn lizards being chased by the David Attenborough snakes!
Really good session in terms of distance and pace. Next week we will be running the same distance and heading to a community garden for planting and weeding - I’ll be stocking up on torches this week!
