This week 14 fantastic runners turned up to support our work at The Log Cabin. We had two new runners join us tonight, a big welcome to Simon and Charlotte! We also welcomed back a few familiar faces including Audrey who is back in the GoodGym fold after a couple of years in Bali, great to have you all!

Also a special mention for Michael tonight firstly for completing his 15th good deed and secondly for the first outing wearing his lovely red GoodGym t-shirt! Ronan decided to do the opposite of a nice new piece of kit and wore possibly the oldest looking pair of trainers I've ever seen, photo evidence in the slideshow!

We started this week's run by heading straight to the park for some sprints before the task (controversial) to catch the last of the evening light. Lammas Park has a very handy mile course with markers on posts so we did 100m sprints with 100m recovery through to park. This little session always sounds easier than it is in practice and a great thing to do when you're out on your own and want to give you run a bit more purpose. You can use lampposts/benches/trees to run between too if your local haunt doesn't have markers. Lots of the Ealing parks do have them so keep an eye out next time you're passing through your favourite park!

The Log Cabin is located just outside the park so it was a quick jog around the corner and we were ready to get stuck in. Like our last visit, the first thing we did was spread the woodchippings around in the play area but with a big team out tonight we made light work of this and then it was all hands on deck for weeding! Newcomer Charlotte had her eyes on the prize with a very large weed in her sights and she was determined to get it out in one piece.

We were all rooting for her!

And she didn't let us down with the result being so beastly it looked like a big weedy bouquet! Everyone did a great job this evening and when we came to leave a lot of weeds had been banished! We also gave the playground a quick once over for litter and found some interesting items including a random toy leg...

With it being the first Tuesday of the month we had the pub in our sights for our monthly social so it was a quick run back through the (by now very dark) park. We lit the way by the torches on our phones but it's definitely nearly time to get out the head torches!

Thank you all for your hard work this evening and for a great get together in the pub afterwards! Next week's task is still to be confirmed but I can guarantee we'll be doing a great task for a worthy cause in the community, you can sign up here.

See you next time, happy running!
