Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
9 Goodgym do gooders ran a total of 5 miles to the Sufra Food Bank in Stonebridge park to help clean up the flowerbeds.
As we waited in the Queensbury pub which we now call home, we welcomed new faces and old faces. It was great to catch up with everyone and welcome the new runners to the group before we headed off on our epic journey.
With Ellie leading the group and New Goodgym Leader recruit Dan being a solid back marker things were looking good from the off set. What a feeling it was to be blasting down the streets of Willesden, followed by Neasden and then Wembley. With the sun still out, everyone was smiling.
We soon ran past the big IKEA and found ourselves at the food bank where we were greeted by the AMAZING DINA. We were armed with all sorts of gardening tools and looked like a pack of lycra clad warriors ready to take on any weeds that where in our way!
We were tasked with cleaning up the flower beds by the the side of the main building, and just as we set about the work, we felt some drizzle coming down from the sky. Did it put us off, not a chance! With the ever famous playlist banging out CHUUUUUNES from Ellie's phone we rocked out while digging up weeds in the rain.
After doing a damn good job cleaning the flower beds we soon had to make our back home so that we would arrive on time. It was a straight dash home as it was 2.5 miles we needed to cover before 8.30pm. This meant we had got away without having to do any squats or sit ups, yipeeeeeeee! with Natasha leading the way we soon found a comfortable rhythm and everyone was zooming along nicely.
Overall we had a fantastic trip to the Sufra Food Bank where it was brilliant to see so much progression to the project they are doing since our first trip. it was worth the trip, even if we did have to SUFRA in the rain
Till next Monday, over and out from Goodgym Brent.
