Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Ben Parkes
What a scorcher Monday night was in Tower Hamlets!
With temperatures getting up to nearly 30 degrees, we were set for a sweaty evening of sweeping, weeding, tidying and of course running! Luckily tonights task was very close by, so there would be minimal travel to get there.
After a quick warm up and introductions we set of for Lark Row Community Garden, where we met Christine and Louise who gave us a overview of the project.
The area use to be a dumping ground for abandoned cars and waste and judging by the amount of litter buried in the plants it was still the case.
So we all grabbed the litter pickers and set about filling the many bin liners that were available.
The area was transformed!
I was amazed at the amount of rubbish that came out, it really was quite incredible! From beer cans, fast food wrappers and even bits of old car tyre.
The transformation was amazing to see, you should all be SO proud!
We then hydrated ourselves and headed off down the canal in search of Victoria Park. I was getting worried as it was super busy and there wasn't any free benches, but then one appeared in the distance and we had a perfect area for some quick strength work!
Tracey was not happy! haha..
We divided into three groups, one doing tricep dips, one doing planks and one doing push ups. Remember you can easily incorporate these into your regular runs and they'll really help your core strength and improve your running!
It was then time to head back for the warm down and to check in again with the lovely hotel dog.
Next week sees us return to finish off to the car park, hopefully for a bit of painting and adding the finishing touches. So sign up now and I'll be back next week to lead you all there!

We're back to see Janet at the Cranbrook Community Food Garden!
