SESSION ORGANISER
Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by James Poole
On a lovely spring evening, nine of Goodgym's bestest runners met to do TWO tasks and ran 6km in the process. If that wasn't enough Kristian did his 50th task and earned his black t-shirt! Way to go, Kris!
In a change to the advertised task - due to some logistical challenges - the group swapped the job of placing the bee and bug homes, with finally (almost) finishing the painting of the front gates at Wanstead House Community Centre. This task has been no mean feat, with the metal work needing to be stripped back, treated with rust killer and then repainted. However, the small gate near the house was completed a few months ago and the main gate is now, oh-so-close to being finally done. The house is looking in tip top condition and Anna, we looks after the house on Monday night is super happy with how things are going!
With nine runners in attendance, there was also an opportunity to do another task and so it was that first time Redbridge GGers, Hannah and Sarah Jane were taken by regulars Linda and Jenny to spread wild flower seeds on last week's task. With a whole bag spread over the newly prepared space next to Snaresbrook Station, we should see it transform from an unloved space that seems to be a home for beer cans, to a tiny urban meadow filled with poppies and other wild flower. We can't wait to see things blossom.
Back at base, the chaps were joined by the ladies for a final bit of painting before tools were packed away and the team headed out to the rather stunning Wanstead Park. Led by "Red Leader" Jenny, we meandered around the Park racking up a few extra kilometers and enjoying the lovely evening weather.
Finally, it was a return to base to celebrate Kristian's 50th task. Kris always brings a warm smile and quietly gets down to any task at hand. He's been part of the team since pretty much day one and it's always great to have him along on a Monday night! Well done Kristian and may there be many more GG runs in your future!
Want to join us and mix paint? That's what we're doing next week as we return to old favourite Forest Recycling Project! You can sign up using the link on the right hand side of this report. See you next week!
