10 runners covered 7.5km and spread the word about a fab new community project in Churchill Gardens.

Tonight we had a lovely new face amongst us, welcome Abi! We met at Urban Reef for the run briefing and I made a plea for helpers at the upcoming Bournemouth Marathon Festival. For those of you who love early starts, we have been asked to help marshall on 2nd October 6am through till 11am - who’s in??

We set off at usual time of 6.30pm and headed east, our planned zigzag was closed so we pushed on and heading up to the over cliff, through Woodland Walk and emerged on the Boscombe High Street. Our destination was Churchill Gardens, where we arrived fresh faced (err, perhaps also a bit sweaty) and ready for our flyering task. Becky and Adam who are setting up a community cafe in the gardens met us outside Joy Cafe and explained more about their fab project.

Our task was to advertise their upcoming community festival weekend by delivering flyers to every house on the square. We split into 4 groups and tackled the task in record time. We even had a chance to do some ad hoc water butt moving - well done everyone! The Love Bournemouth activities are aimed at pulling together the whole community and bringing even more life to these buzzing gardens. Lovely project - so glad we could help spread the word.

An extra good deed was done by Julia on our run back - she spotted a bin on fire and got straight on the phone to the fire brigade…I saw the blue lights as I left the beach, disaster averted!

We warmed down on the sand and discussed the upcoming Starter Session which will give those who aren't seasoned runners a chance to join us, while those in training can test out their race pace!
