Not deterred by the lure of pancakes, 19 lovely GoodGymers came out to run and help Ealing Foodbank last night.

And a flipping good night it was...

We started by welcoming new runner Nathan into the fold and congratulating Shan on this epic marathon run on Sunday. Give them both a massive cheer!

We also wished good luck to everyone doing The Big Half on Sunday, you got this guys!

We did a quick warm up where we discussed favourite pancake toppings 🥞 and based on the answers we had to decide whether to allow the two Chris' to continue with the group going forward... No pancakes or pancakes with fried chicken were the answer given by these two but given that they are excellent people otherwise we decided to let them stay and set off towards Hanwell where Hilary had lots of jobs we us at the Foodbank Warehouse.

It’s peanut butter jelly time!

We had groups date sorting peanut butter, teams on weighing and stacking duty, some box crushers, cleaning teams, shredders and litter pickers outside too. It was a hive of activity and in 40 minutes we’d ticket everything off the list!

A speedy run back along the Uxbridge Road, I could tell everyone was keen to get home to their well earned pancakes!

News:

  • Next week we’re visiting our adopted section of Canal in Hanwell for the group run and after the session we have our social. This month we thought we’d have a special pizza social, sign up here, everyone welcome wether you can make the run before or not.

  • The GoodGym Games are happening on Saturday 18th July this year in Oxford. Chris will be team captain from Ealing this year and will be rallying the troops for the event but you can sign up here.

  • The 2020 GoodGym Shindig will take place over the weekend of Friday 7th August - Sunday 9th August and I'd love to see a few of you guys from Ealing there! The Shindig is for everyone who wants to be involved in making GoodGym as good as it can be, whether you've done one run or 100 everyone is welcome, new runners especially! You can find out all the details here, be sure to register your interest!

  • Race for free when you volunteer at Hackney Half - That's right if you volunteer at this event you get a free place at another event. And they ain't cheap so it's a good deal!

Helping local people in crisis

We don’t think anyone in our community should have to face going hungry. That’s why we provide three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to us in crisis. We are part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.
