Amazing scenes! 13 runners smashed a 5km run with speed work training to the Lammas Community Orchard!
What a truly superb evening! The sun was shining, it was so good to see everyones glorious faces! First things first a huge welcome to newcomers Cate, Susie and, new to Ealing, Lara!
It all started with a short jog through Walpole Park, within no time we were near the community orchard. It was obvious we had a group of keen fitties on our hands so it was straight into the old classic heart pumper...stuck in the mud!! This group were true pros, freeing squatting people and escaping capture. Excellent work!
We then made our way to the orchard where the lovely Grant was just chilling with his wheelbarrow. The group split down into hedge trimmers, mulchers and plant waterers and wow...everyone was on fiyaaaaahhh! Grant kept saying it would have taken him hours to do what everyone accomplished in about 30 minutes. The garden is open all the time and everything grown produces edible fruit or veg! Lots of apples and hops...someone could happily live in there! Grant commented that it was as though he was watching some sort of alternative Olympic pentathlon...I think everyone won a gold medal though.
So, our work complete it was adios and back to Walpole Park for a fun team effort in the form of an Indian file. A slow steady pace at the front and the back person has to jog/run/sprint to the front. We covered about 2km this way and the determination was inspiring!
Before we knew it, we were back to bodylines for a nice stretch and to ponder over a pun. It was an absolute pleasure to run with you all and you make me smile!
