9 amazing runners ran 6km around Ealing to help shift boxes for the Parish Church!
The sun decided to come out for us last night, YAY! We were joined by 3 first timers, the lovely Sam, Liv and Jenni! Welcome to the gang ladies! It was lovely to meet you all :)
We did a warm up down the alley and headed to the park for a little loop round before going to the church, since it was just around the corner. Ealing is full of nice parks so might as well make use of them!
We arrived at the church and were greeted by Jackie who explained the task at hand. The Clergy House is having a big refurbishment ready for the new vicar so there is a lot of work going on! Our job was to move a big pile of boxes from the front room out to the garage. Martin got started with the first one and then the girls got stuck in too.
Huge books!
There were so many AMAZING big, old books. They looked like something out of an Indiana Jones film! Steph was taking out some of the books from the boxes to make them a bit lighter to carry. The boxes were disappearing at lightning speed! After about 15 minutes, everything had been moved over to the garage... nice one!
Since we had a bit of time to kill, Jackie kindly gave us a guided tour of the house which was just spectacular. We spiralled all the way to the top of the staircase admiring each floor and eventually got to the top where there was a lovely roof terrace. We even go to see the chapel itself - so beautiful! We took a group photo outside and then headed for Lammas Park to get a few more miles in.
The finishing straight!
I have been to Lammas Park 3 times and on those 3 occasions there have been thousands of other people there too, waiting to start the Ealing Half Marathon (sign up now with code 'GoodGym10' for 10% off!) so it was very strange not seeing any portaloos, not seeing any runners nervously pinning on their race numbers and not smelling Deep Heat in the air! We ran along the finishing straight which brought back lots of lovely memories!
The sun was really out for us by now so we did a little bit of core work in the park which consisted of some planks, and some partner exercises too which are all great to help build a stronger core to help you become a faster runner! 3 sets of 3 exercises and then we headed back for a stretch!
Well done everyone! You absolutely smashed the task! It would have taken them ages to do what you did in 15 minutes so you should be very proud! Hopefully see you next week!
