This week we were back visiting our friends at Aldgate Community events, continuing the transformation of the first storey car park into an community art space and gallery! Previously we'd been tasked with whitewashing the walls of the huge area and also shifting the dirt off the floor which had accumulated since its last clean over a decade ago! After a 2-mile run through the backstreets of Bethnal Green and Whitechapel, we found our way to the car park and split our team of 12 into two groups - one delicately, yet efficiently applying a second layer of paint to the walls, whilst the other group set about liberating the floor of the grime in the previously untouched corner. With David and Keri on the hose, Sig, Aaron, Becky & Charlotte did a fantastic job to shift the dirt down the drains. The glistening surfaces only reflected the pearly splendour of the paintwork completed by Gabrielle, Domitille, Becky, David, James & Ben. After the great job well done, the fitness session was somewhat lacking after being cut short by a security guard - in case anyone was wondering, a running time trial around the Gherkin on a Monday night is strictly forbidden. We were still fortunate to have a 3km journey back to base. It was a great effort all round for a good distance run and an intensive task. Looking forward to seeing you all again next week for some more GoodGym fun!
