11 lovely runners ran 5km to spread the word about the amazing Deborah Ubee Trust!
The year is drawing to a close and last night was the penultimate group run of 2017! We were tasked with distributing some leaflets from the Deborah Ubee Trust around the local area to try and encourage some donations to the charity. The DUT promotes emotional health by providing counselling and support to those who otherwise are unable to access it. You can find out more about them here.
It was a nice tight knit little group last night which meant it was easy to stick together.... or so we thought!
We started off with a little warm up around a rather sad looking Christmas tree that was lying on the floor at the university. A run around and few burpees later and we headed off to pick up the leaflets from the DUT taking the nice scenic route along the river :)
We arrived and were greeted by Rory who had an overwhelmingly large box of leaflets for us! Everyone grabbed a handful and we got going! The first set of roads were the two parallel ones just next door from where we were. We split in half, one group taking one road and the other taking the other road and then we would meet at the end.... which kind of happened so I'm calling that a success!
To the station!
Next up was the flats near the station. We came across these a few weeks ago when we flyered for the carol concert and hit the jackpot! KER-CHING!!! It's a junk mail deliverer's dream! Not that this was junk mail though of course :) The great thing about these flats is that the letterboxes are on the outside, grouped in chunks of about 30 so there's no need to open a fence and go down a little pathway (like the big posh fancy houses we started on!).
Where is everyone?
After half an hour or so, everyone was well and truly lost. My group of 5 whittled down to just myself and Bliss so we headed back to the uni and hoped everyone would eventually emerge..... which they did... HOORAY! Like little homing pigeons :)
New TT
Because of the (obscenely overpriced) Greenwich Wintertime festival, we were forced to make some changes to the monthly 1km time trial route. Instead of the usual 1 big lap of the uni, we did some laps of the mini track we have been using recently. When I measured it, it was just over 250m around so 4 laps should just about do it!
The gun went off and Amy and Ben C were out in front. 3 laps down and Ben did a sneaky overtake, Amy let him have it for a bit but then around the final corner she took the crown back in just a little over 3 and a half minutes.... AMAZING!!! And great performances all round might I add. It is so inspiring to see you all improving and put so much effort in so WELL DONE!!!
[Brin]((https://www.goodgym.org/runners/brin) has actually made an official Strava segment called the GGG Quadrangle of Fun and the current leader is a random person and not a member of GoodGym.... so we need to get that sorted PRONTO!!!
GG100
It started to get prettttttty cold so we did a quick little stretch and then headed inside for some goodies. We'd lost Ben P and Brin along the way but there they were, sitting inside with a nice freshly iced cake for my 100th good deed... SO LOVELY!!!!!
It was cake central last night. I thought it was Ben's 50th so I had brought a cake, Sarah had baked some lemon drizzle cupcakes and then we also had the main cake.... amazing!!! And as we all know, you can never have too much cake :)
Thanks everyone for being a part of my 100 good deeds in one way or another! It's been a blast and I hope you have enjoyed them as much as I have! Here's to many more!!! :)
Hope to see you all on Friday evening for our Christmas dinner. I think it's too late now to book food but feel free to swing by for a drink, we'll be at the Old Brewery from 8.30pm :)
