Share the love

It had been a while since we had been to The Parvaaz Project on Northampton Avenue. This charity group is one that we always like to go an help as they get limited funding so our good deeds are really appreciated by Ishtiaque and Alex, our task owners

Obstacular Running

Before I start the report tonight I to give a big shout out to our ‘Running Birds’ who completed the Colour Rush Obstacle Course on Saturday. These sprint chickens laughed their way through dozens of obstacles over the 5k distance all with the fund intended to help The Dash Charity, one of our other regular task owners. A great knee joint venture with Goodgym, Active Slough and The Dash Charity.

And Sandy was on a muddy mission this weekend with her first obstacle Nuclear race.

Well done to you all.

I also felt like I did an obstacle course this weekend. I ran the Richmond Park Marathon yesterday which involved hills, hills and more hills. No 26 smiles this time…more a grimace…

My life means Squat without you

After our welcome brief and task overview we hit the park outside for our pre run warm up games. Thank you to Ricky for leading this section and getting those glutes activated and nicely warmed up before the run out.

Walk on the Mile side

We were offering a walking group option today as my achey breaky legs just couldn’t do the run today. So I led the way with my walkers Chrissy and Gail whilst Darren and Ricky did tag team run leading and back marking with the runners.

The walkers took a shorter route to the Centre but the race was on with the runners as they tried to beat us there however they had to admit de-feet as the walkers just pipped them to the post.

We kicked grass

On arrival at the centre, Alex, our task owner gave us a series of gardening tasks that needed doing, which included strimming, raking, litter picking and sweeping.

Darren was straight onto the manly strimmer tool! It had his name all over it. With such cutting hedge technology, Darren trimmed back the grass not only in the back garden area but also had enough time to do the front! Such skills

Ricky was on raking duty whilst Gail, Jean, Pam and Lucy cleared the grounds of tree twigs and debris. This was Lucy’s first task with us today and what a pine job she did too!

Kam, Emily, Sandy got to work on the front part of the centre and swept, picked and bagged all the debris in sight.

Chrissy and Meera nipped it in the bud with the overgrown grassy roots.

In around 40 minutes we had transformed the green garden space Spruce Springsteen style.

Ab Fab Sweetie Darling

Task done, we left the running group doing more squats whilst the walkers made a head start. We took a slightly different route back in order to fit in a mini fitness session.

With a bit of meeting and retreating followed by core work involving planks and crunches. Somehow the enthusiasm to do more was lacking tonight….. a few ‘please don’t make us do that again’ comments….say it how it is Meera… So we headed back to base for our stretches instead

Bank Holiday Cheers

Rather than go to the pub next Monday evening for your cheers would you not rather join me in a good deed? Yes…I hear you say…cheers for that. Here is the link to next Monday’s task. Hope to see you there https://www.goodgym.org/happenings/flyering-for-fitness

Have a great week
