Loads of excellent runners tidy the yard at Brixton Road Youth Centre
First up, big congrats to David for getting his black 50 runs t-shirt. Woohoo! David has been a stellar member of Team Lambeth since joining in January and he deserves much cheering. Also, well done to Frances, for winning August's Shit Prize of the Month (SPOTM) - a plastic snake that we found at the bottom of the pond at Palace Road Nature Gardens...a wonderful prize! Frances has done 11 good deeds and counting this month - wowee.
This week also saw names go in the hat for the annual Lambeth SweetStake for the Great British Bake Off. With the controversial move to channel 4 behind us, let's see what Noel and Sandi can give us by way of sweet, sweet puns. Expect more on that front from next week!
After a lovely warm up led by Alex, team 1 went with Katie straight down to Brixton Youth Club - about 1.5km - to crack on with clearing the yard. Team 2 went with John on a circuitous 4km route before joining them. Weeds were pulled up, leaves and branches were cleared and litter was picked. It was a grand team effort and one that makes a massive difference to the youth club. Team 1 headed back a little early and did some lovely strength work that will probably leave their legs feeling a little sore today.
And with some stretches, we went to the pub where nearly everyone had fish and chips. A grand evening!
The youth centre provides a space for young people to hang out, play games and socialise.
