Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
It’s getting dark earlier now but that didn’t stop three of the GoodGym Redbridge team getting their hands dirty and helping with the upkeep of Wanstead Community Allotments - ahead of a Halloween event. Add in a 5km run and you’ve got a great evening of getting fit and making a real difference.
With GG Redbridge regulars, Pete and Martin away on holiday (separately, I should add), the week’s task was down to just Alice, James and Tina. After the usual briefing and a catch up on Alice’s recent trip to Newcastle for the Great North Run (too many people), it was a quick dash down to Wanstead Community Allotments to tend to the weeds which, after a bit of rainfall, are trying to reassert their presence.
This is an important task for GG Redbridge and we have been working with the team at Vision to get things ready for next months event. On Wednesday 28 October their will be a healthy eating education event at the site and GoodGym Redbridge have been a key partner in getting the allotment in shape before the event. Those who remember how it was in July will be impressed with how much progress has been made. If you would like to attend the event (and you would be very welcome) more details can be found here or you can email GoodGym Trainer James at james@goodgym.org.
With poor light limiting play to just 30 minutes the team rapidly weeded and tidied before heading out for a 5km fairly hilly run around the local area. With Tina leading the way and showing James and Alice a route which could well become a regular route during the winter. As usual the run ended with some static stretching focus on the major running muscle groups and leaving the trio ready to face the week ahead. Great work guys!
