Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
8 runners covered 6km and cleared a garden in preparation for a new rockery.
It was lovely to welcome some new faces to last night's run. We met outside Urban Reef, braving the drizzle, we signed in and got to know each other. Welcome to Ritchie and Caroline!
We set off at usual time of 6.30pm and headed west to Bournemouth Pier tackling the Eastcliff zigzag with great enthusiasm, well done everyone!!! We took in the beautiful coastal scenery before arriving at the Grove Hotel. This is a unique hotel offering a beautiful holiday retreat for cancer patients and those with life threatening illnesses. We were be met by their friendly volunteer gardener, Teresa, and tasked with clearing and digging part of the garden's bank so they can build a beautiful rockery there.
The garden and hotel were a wonderful place for us to work and it wasn't long before most of the greenery on the bank had been cleared creating a bed for the rockery, sterling work team!! We worked so hard there was time to rake a vast amount of leaves and do a quick litter pick. The atmosphere was buzzing as we worked, I think we all had the feel good factor and we can look forward to returning to the garden in the Autumn to see how 'our' rockery evolves!
Our run back allowed us to tot up a 6km run in total, before a quick fitness drill and warm down. Yet again the lovely Urban Reef had put on some live music for us to chill out to after a truly exhausting 90 minute work out.
Next week we head to local Churchill Gardens to help them prepare for an event - feeling so positive about our fantastic GoodGym Bournemouth - you guys rock!!
