Our super seven ran 6km over different terrains to survey the beach for Marine Conservation charity

This week marked 6 months of GoodGym in Bournemouth. Time to reflect on what a fab group we have established. Coincidentally our task last night was the same task we completed on our very first 'big launch' run.

The team had to cover a few km on sand and road to get to the patch of sand we were surveying. I used this to measure pace on the two terrains. 5.3min for a km was our average in the road surface, this dropped to 8min for a km once we got on the really really soft sand. A great work out for the legs though!

We selected a section of sand by Bournemouth Pier and began a forensic sweep of the sand. The charity asks groups like us to complete this litter pick while recording what we find (in great detail!). We worked in 3 teams, combing, collecting and recording.

When we regrouped, it was clear from all our survey forms - cigarette butts reigned in terms of volume. There were 100s of them rolls eyes! Closely followed by sweet and ice cream wrappers. Does that mean Bournemouth beach goers have a lot of unhealthy habits?!

For our run home, we decided to ruin our legs completely. With a challenge to 'mount' to steepest zigzag in town. Everyone pushed themselves to get to the top - where we took in the amazing coastal view.

We took on some more sand running before hobbling back to base. A warm down and reminder of our curry night 6th April at Dosa World (all welcome).

Next week - we dig! See you then......
