12 runners ran 5k to give fruit out to the homeless
On a freeeeeezing night in Brum (hence the pun, thought up by David) we had twelve tough souls out doing good. It was lovely to welcome Nurjehan and Rina to GG Brum for the first time. Rina Came from GG Greenwich and Nurjehan from Haringey. They were both certainly well prepared for the conditions with plenty of layers on!
We set off on our way, Fiona had brought tonnes of apples so we definitely weren’t going to go short. The job was to give as much fruit as possible out to the homeless. They would certainly appreciate it, given by a friendly face on such a bitterly cold night. We split into two groups. Each group covering a different part of the city centre. By the end of the task the gents in the group definitely had some cold bananas and apples. Some how we virtually got rid of all the fruit, which was an achievement in itself. If nothing else we may have cured any constipation people had!
Once done we all met back in St Paul’s square for a bit of a Bootcamp workout. We started off with press ups followed by a plank, Karin and Annie both showing great planks. Then it was high knees running, Aaron, Rina and Morwenna getting that heart racing. Next it was squat jumps. Nurjehan showing some top form. After that there was even more squatting, this time in the form of holding a squat, whilst boxing, then going straight into tuck jumps! That really was tough! Laura, Fiona and David gave it there all, well if nothing else it would keep you warm ;-) Then last but certainly not least it was the dreaded wall squat. Two lots of one minute holds with just 15 seconds rest! A right killer Rina Was really grimacing, but dug in to hold it. All the group were fantastic, Fiona giving some much needed encouragement to the rest of the group at the end, as this really was a leg ‘finisher offer’!
Once that was all over it was just a short bimble back to 1000 Trades.
Next week we will be out doing good again, it would be great if you could join us sign up here.

Thank you for welcoming me to the GG Brum crew. A Brummie by birth, but I certainly don't recognise the blooming city Brum has become. It's fruitastic!
