Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Four of us rocked up at Chiswick Town Hall for the first GoodGym Hounslow of the year. A big welcome to first timer Donna who's new to the area and keen to improve her 10k time.
Task for the evening was to run to Ealing Road Baptist Church to help clear the place up so it could serve as one of several shelters that The Shelter Project Hounslow is putting on every night between December and March.
A 3k jog as a group saw us arrive at the church to be met by the church's minister Roger, who had lots for us to do, including setting up a sleeping area for the homeless for that very night since temperatures had dropped below zero!
Andy and Simon went upstairs to clear out a rather cluttered back room to make space for electricians that were due to visit while Leanne and Donna worked downstairs clearing the floor area of chairs and laying out matresses ready for the evening.
Leanne and Donna were super efficient and joined us upstairs for a quick Jaffa Cake before we all finished clearing out the room together.
On the way home we played Secret Surges, dabbled with Indian File and worked on our running technique (including trying not to fall over) before getting back to the Town Hall for a little bit of "core-dination" and having a nice stretch.
A great effort tonight. It's remarkable how much four keen bodies can get achieved. Getting fit, doing good and getting dusty - that's what it's all about. Thanks to Roger and Beverley for hosting.
We are back next week at the same place to fill up a skip! Be there.
Until then,
Simon
