Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
It was a small but perfectly formed group of GoodGymers that met up at Chiswick Town Hall last night, but as we all know, it's all about quality not quantity, it's not the size that matters, etc etc.
It was Henry's first time at GoodGym - welcome! - and he totally smashed it. We started off with a few dynamic warm ups to get our heart rates up, pausing only to accost somebody in running kit in case they wanted to join us. They didn't. But we redeemed ourselves by recruiting a curious looking spectator watching us during our fitness session later that evening, so we figure we've come out evens.
It was just under a two mile jog to Ealing Road Baptist Church, (thank you to Henry for expertly navigating!) where we were met by the lovely and chatty minister, Roger. The church serves as a shelter for the homeless at the weekend, so we set about shifting 15 mattresses from the storeroom upstairs down to the main hall. We developed quite a slick slide-down-the-stairs drill and were done in next to no time. There were just a few bags to shift, and the mattresses to stack before we could call it a night. Luckily Roger was there to entertain us while we worked with marriage tips and recipes as well as some incredible stories about how the community is helping their homeless guests get back on their feet.
After a quick run back to Turnham Green, we knocked out a quick fitness session which saw a few coordination and balance drills, followed by a mini speed session where we thought about form and technique . We stretched it out after 90 minutes of hard work, and talked about next week, when we'll be back at Ealing Baptist Church to help out with some more jobs for the shelter. You can sign up here. Go on, join us for some mid week fun!
