Today we ran between just over 4km to Wandle Park to do some litter picking.

Two hot and sticky weeks in a row – you’d think it was summertime! Off we headed tonight down towards Wandle Park wielding our litter picks - in a safe and responsible manner of course. On our last visit to Wandle there was a remarkable lack of litter following a few days of dismal weather. Tonight however the park was busy and from the amount of rubbish we collected it had been full all day. It did feel satisfying when we finished and had 5 full bags of rubbish to dispose off though. I did consider going easy on them tonight given the heat but since Wandle Park has a lovely half mile circuit it would have been rude not to do our third time trial there. This time we’ve got the results written down for future when we can see how we’ve progressed. Since everybody was so speedy round the park it did leave us a little bit of time to work on lower body strength and balance with some walking lunges, one-legged balance, squats and reverse lunges – apologies in advance for any DOMS tomorrow.

We also had three new members today Helen and Paul - so a big welcome to them and hope to see you in your red t-shirts very soon. Nick returned after time off injured and it was great to see Karim and Neil again.

Next week we’ll be staying around central Croydon cleaning the PING table tennis tables before they head off the following day to be stored for the winter and then hopefully brought back to Croydon the next year. Here’s the link to join up.
