12 Goodgymers ran 5km to help Mildmay Community Centre cut down a FOREST
Welcome along to newbie Robyn, thank you for joining our group!
In the news this week:
A dozen of us gathered on the first day of Wimbledon (seriously where is the rain) to do some good for our community. We headed 2.5km to a new task, Mildmay Community Centre, to help tackle an overgrown green space. And when I say overgrown I mean a literal forest of weeds and thistles.
Armed with tools, gloves and bags the team got to work tackling the great expanse. Everything was pretty spikey so double or even triple gloves were necessary!
Summer glovin'
While Steve got ever deeper into the forest, chopping as he went, he found a deep hole! It was the work of a local fox! Meanwhile I handed out Mr Fox's Custard Creams, I when I say handed out I mean literally people the biscuits. Chris (Tree Man) and Graham did a great work in chopping down a tree with all the tools available. Nice!
Over 40 minutes of hard work we bagged up 30 bags of weeds, debris and thistles.
Sign up for next week here when we'll be helping Sunnyside Community Gardens.
