Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
On a dark Monday evening, five GoodGym Redbridge runners headed west to mix it up with Forest Recycling Project (FRP) and ran almost 8km in the process.
It’s that time of year. It’s dark early. It’s dark late. It’s definitely getting colder. But that doesn’t mean it’s time to hibernate. Not if you are a GoodGym runner. We’re made of tougher stuff than that.
Instead of staying at home the fantastic five met at Wanstead House Community Association for a quick briefing before heading across George Green on a mission to mix it up with Nilesh at FRP. FRP takes paint from building contractors, remixes it and the sells it cheaply to community associations and other local initiatives. Over the years they have collected hundreds (maybe thousands) of cans of paint and they need help sorting them and readying them for sale. Step in GoodGym Redbridge.
With the 2 mile run to The Sidings in Leytonstone complete, the team set to work opening tins, stirring the settled paint and mixing it into batches of the same colour. Messy work for sure but also strangely therapeutic and addictive – we literally had to manhandle Peter to get him to stop mixing. After 40 minutes of lifting, stirring and pouring much headway had been made.
With smiles and thanks from Nilesh in their ears the team made the run back to Wanstead House for a brief stretching session. An usual task but plenty of fun and one that we will be back to soon no doubt – they definitely need our help.
Great work GG Redbridge!
