Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
The nights may have grown longer but that didn’t stop six runners from GoodGym Redbridge heading out for a 9km run spreading the GG story.
With Simon and Sarah returning back to GG Redbridge after a break and Peter on the last day of his #RunEveryDay in October the team were in good spirits. Armed with a stack of flyers and a well-rehearsed story of doing GOOD in the area the group headed out on to the surrounding streets to spread the word.
Tina took up her regular role of chief navigator and guided the group first to Leyton Overground before heading on to Leyton and back via Leytonstone Station. A proper tour of the area.
Anyone in trainers and lycra was fair game and pretty soon the group had firm commitments from people to check out the website and even a couple who said they’d come to a run.
This was the furthest the group had run on a Monday and with Alice signed up for a Spring Marathon and Tina a half, it was a perfect start to winter training. The session end with a few easy stretches before everyone headed home for some well-deserved sustenance.
Next week’s task sees us meet with Marian from Wanstead Community Gardeners to help reclaim patches of disused and neglected land. It’s a great task and the area is already seeing the benefits of GoodGym’s input. Don’t hesitate, you can sign up here.
