Report written by Sam Lefevre (he/him)
On a night that felt like an early Summer's evening, three GoodGymers came out on this extra group run this week. Every 2-3 months or so, we help TRAID in Peckham pack up their store after their sale and it happens on a Tuesday night.
Paulin and Katy met Sam who arrived early at Old Spike Roastery as he noticed there was a newbie to GoodGym signed up for the task and wanted to make sure they didn't get lost. Unfortunately, they did not come and so, in three: Paulin, Katy and Sam did a quick warm-up before answering tonight's ice-breaker question, which was: On Friday is International Waffle Day, what is your favourite breakfast food?. We had two types of full English - one greasy and one vegan and posh. Paulin chose pancakes with lots of strawberries and chocolate 🍫
After running the backstreets of Peckham, we arrived at TRAID to see Mabel and the gang starting to pack away the clothes. This time, like last time, there was plenty to pack away.
However, our task this time was different from before. We had to pack away shoes, but there was a twist to the task. During the sale, TRAID only display one shoe and leave the other pair underneath the counter.
Our approach to the task was to take all the displayed shoes and put it on the floor in colours before we could even start to attempt to match them. Once we got going with the matching, it was like a game of "Where's Wally?" as many black high heels look the same and that comment didn't come from Sam only.
Amongst the three of them and within the hour, they packed away 8 bags worth of shoes and had roughly packed away 3/4 of what was meant to be done. Like in life, it's hard to find the right match. The one who is your sole mate.
