28 Hackney GoodGymers ran 5.5k to a new Hackney Wick community garden to do some heavy duty clearing, plant some bulbs and water the thriving Riverside garden.

Great to have such a big turn out this evening!! Top work on the GoodGym first timers for coming along. Hope to see you all along next week to keep the good times running!!

Splitting up into 2 groups we headed down towards the river on a strong 2.75k run navigating the multiple traffic lights and road crossings to keep up a consistent pace!

Reaching Kirsty and the Wick garden team we split up into 3 groups, first crew went paling into the river to to almost industrial scale watering of the Riverside Garden! The second pod ducked and dived, bobbed and weaved around the estate planting 200 bulbs ready for Spring next year in varying highly artistic patterns. The third squad attacked the New garden with all its collective might!! Filling a skip in no time! We raked bags and bags of leaves, found chairs, bricks, road works fences, metal, wood and Skipped it! There was an epic battle at the back of the garden with a comically big Vine! Seemed to go on for ever and was as thick as an anaconda!

Once the raised beds were clear we began the task of turning over the newly exposed soil so we can get planting on a future visit.

With 45 minutes of epic action under our belts we had earned our biscuit and oranges reward!

A quick nibble and we were away steaming back to base in no time!!

A stretch out, couple of DBS checks in and Quiz Master Ros dropping the knowledge again!!

which are the 5 European Capital Cities with English names which are 4 letters long???

Bern, Riga, Kiev, Oslo, Rome

Next week we are heading north to Stamford Hill Wellbeing Garden!! Bring your running legs for this 8k (in total) run and you head torches/ light emitting devices.

Have a great week!

Smooth Running
