SESSION ORGANISER
Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Windsor and Maidenhead runner
Runners, walkers and cyclists arrived at Cookham Dean Primary School to help remove an old shed. The team lapped up the challenge and made quick work of dismantling the old shed which took little effort to reduce it to firewood "TIMBER!". Clearing the area of lost footballs, tennis balls and even a hoola hoop previously lost into the undergrowth were returned. "Bamboo"zled and raking it in, the team were ready for more.
With the task completed early the team set to work building the brand new shed which had laid dormant on the edge of the playground, waiting for the right construction team to burst into action and bring it all together. Reinforcements were drafted in supplying an electric drill and what seemed like a shed too far, soon became a reality!
With supervisors, assistant supervisors, health and safety monitors and a crack team on the instruction manual the new shed rose up and took shape. Everyone took on a task and even a mid session tea break to reflect on our efforts. I "felt" the roof went on "eave"ntually and we then admired our work.
Although we stayed longer than planned, the team work and committed to completing the mission shone through. With a lot of laughter and good spirit the shed was almost complete. After much deliberation the door baton was installed, the remaining parts were stored within the new shed and the team headed for home through the stunning local woodland and open fields. Just a lick of preservative, roof felt and finishing touches remained.
A location we will certainly be returning too with many more tasks lined up on the horizon.
That is not a time lapse, we really work that quickly!!
