Never seen such passion over a pun!!
Thank you Ealing! For making me feel so welcome.
As a tourist visiting from Richmond with very limited geographical knowledge on Ealing, you guys were the best sat navs I have ever met.
The proof of that is that we didn't even get lost on our way to Dame Gertrude House for our task of cleaning one of the residents rooms as well as the cosy laundry room. (I could barely get in to take a photo)
Our run tonight started with a great alley warm up which I sprung on the unexpecting runners but may I say you coped admirably with dead lifts, wheelbarrow run, squat jumps , low fives and a highland fling!
We banish the winter cold and set forth on a 2.5km run to the homeless shelter which houses and supports up to 23 men at a time.
Whilst one of the residents was away from his room we were given the opportunity to give it his dwelling a good GG once over. We were faced with a number of challenges ranging from "do we have a bucket", "can we reach the coffee stains near the ceiling?" And "is that a mouse in a trap....." EEEK OMG!! It is!!
Despite these hindrances Ealing stayed true to the cause and with sleeves rolled up they left that room squEEEaky clean! (Thanks for the pun Jenni and even more for the star jump you did once you realised just how golden it was.
In addition to seeing how many GG runners you can fit in one small bedroom we also played "let's squeeze them in the laundry room as well ". The optimum number with 2 washer dryers, mops and buckets is just 3 for it to remain functional. Which meant I could barely get my smart phone in for a photo opportunity but I did! And rightly so as you guys transformed that room and looked damn good with those mops!
Well done to all , was super awesome to meet you and looking forward to our big run next week already. Thank you Ealing for having me.
Oh by the way here are the links to the missions I mentioned. https://www.goodgym.org/happenings/urgent-move-some-furniture-for-ms-s https://www.goodgym.org/happenings/tidying-the-garden-for-ms-k
The project supports and empowers service users, to develop their skills, promote their independence and make a positive contribution in the local community, with the ultimate aim of moving on positively and avoiding repeat homelessness.
