SESSION ORGANISER
Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Newcastle runner
It's always uplifting to be in the beautiful Ouseburn Valley and it was a particularly lovely, unseasonably warm and sunny morning for our first visit in a while. Task owner Dave was ready with gloves and litter pickers for our session. We split into three pairs and immediately got to work. Charlotte and I filled our first bag with rubbish and then did an extra loop of the valley while we tried to locate Dave to collect a new bag! (Lesson learned: take a supply of bags next time!) We marveled at what a lovely morning it was (yes we did go on about the weather quite a bit!) and I was chuffed to find a leaf that had been sprayed pink and black, perfectly matching my trainers and leggings! (Why do you spray leaves pink and black in an outdoor space?!) Meanwhile Tanya and Debbie, and Angela and Lucy had drifted to the opposite end of the valley. It was great to see Angela back for her second GoodGym task and being rewarded with finding a traffic cone, as well as filling bags with the usual gunk! Tanya and Debbie found a selection of "interesting" items including a paper aeroplane and, if I'm not mistaken, a pregnancy testing kit! Main Man Dave found a mini four-wheeled trolley - "I'm sure this will be useful - I'm just not sure yet what for!" With ten minutes to go Charlotte and I wandered around the Ouseburn Farm to collect a last bit of litter and were delighted to spend a couple of minutes chatting to a very smiley pig! It was the perfect end to a very productive and enjoyable morning in the Ouseburn Valley. By the sounds of it, Dave has plans to put us to good use again soon! Watch this space!
