Report written by Jonny Carter
On probably the wettest day in Brum for a long while, we still had a good turn out of GoodGymers. Ten in fact and although we had no newcomers it was great to see Hasnain back after a long absence. The group were rewarded for their attendance with what was the driest part of the day!
Unfortunately tonight’s task was cancelled as the task owner was unwell. Therefore it was decided that as the nights are drawing in, we would run along the canals via the Soho Loop, probably for the last time before next spring. Our ‘do good’ bit tonight was promoting the group with everyone proudly wearing their GG T-shirts.
David did the front marker duties and Rob and Liam shared the back, the latter preparing for his assault on the Berlin Marathon this Sunday!
After we had ran around 5k we stopped to do a little interval training. It was short and sharp tonight, eight lots of 30 second efforts with 30 seconds recovery in between. Everyone worked well, Will powered his way a long, George and Liam got those legs turning over quickly and Morwenna and Laura chased each other a long. Another top workout was completed. Next job was to carry on along the canal, past Brindley Place, off the canal at St Paul’s square and up the hill back to 1000 Trades. That was a nice 8k completed, mostly on the canals hence this weeks Morwenna inspired pun! What’s more the rain stayed away! Winner, winner, chicken dinner!!
Next week we will be out doing good again, it would be great if you could join us sign up here.
