Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Liv Parker-Scott
This week on a lovely sunny evening in Ealing 11 of us ran to help out at The Log Cabin in Northfields for the first time. This brilliant facility is a purpose-built adventure playground for children and young people with additional needs or disabilities and it was great to be able to go and help them tidy their outdoor space so that the children have a nicer environment to enjoy and the staff can focus their time and energy on where it's needed elsewhere in the charity.
This week we had two newcomers, Ed and Nicole, who both got stuck straight in with the jobs on offer tonight. Ed made a particularly good effort in the weeding tonight and Nicole took on a variety of tasks over the course of our time there this evening and definitely didn't shy away from some hard graft spreading all the wood chips around!
Jenni joined us again this week looking great in her new red t-shirt and with myself, Suganthinie, Alex and Rachel all sporting our GoodGym attire we definitely looked the part for this week's task and fitness session!
Regular Michael was also back again this week (wearing his classic black, hoping to see you on red very soon Mike ;)) as was Amy (again red would look great on you too!) and Heidi also joined us for her second run, it was great to have you back!
Our run was short and sweet this evening giving us plenty of time to make a good difference in the outdoor space at the centre and also gave us time for a little cheeky go on some of the playground equipment too! After redistributing a lot of wood chips in the playground we all focused on making one of the large overgrown flowerbeds and the surrounding paths weed free and by the time we came to leave, the area was looking really great!
Making the most of the last of the evening sunshine we stopped in Walpole Park for some more fun and games playing a sprinting game of rats and rabbits where Heidi proved uncatchable and was crowned champion! Everyone exhausted and ready to go home I was feeling a little evil so I provided a final little burnout session including the loved by all, jumping squats!
Everyone did a great job this week, thank you all so much for your hard work. Looking forward to next week when we will be helping out with maintenance at St Stephen's Church, you can sign up here right now! We'll also be heading down to the pub afterwards for our first social so please come and join us!
Happy running :)
