Report written by Windsor and Maidenhead runner
We met at the Harmony Centre on Cordwallis Street (despite Hannah and Sophie getting the address wrong and knocking on the door of someones house in the next road!) and got straight to work, carrying things down the steep & narrow staircase and loading up the cars of the 3 lovely ladies at The Autism Group. The task was to help them move premises, so there were lots of bags, boxes, furniture and TVs!
Once the cars were loaded, Paul and Sophie ran just over 1km to the new premises on Maidenhead high street, whilst Hannah, Sheila and Kanika walked. It meant Paul and Sophie had to resist the temptation of the delicious smelling street food being cooked next door!
The walkers and cars arrived and we set to work in the form of an Olympic Gold relay team, passing things up the stairs to reach the new premises. Paul and Sophie covered the downstairs set of stairs moving things from ground level to half way up, whilst Hannah, Sheila and Kanika tackled the upper level and ensured everything was placed into their new home. The most challenging item was a pretty heavy shelving unit which was definitely a team effort!
We were rewarded with water and shortbread and all felt like we'd had a great workout! We felt like we had re-lay helped them out!
