5 runners ran 5km to Doddington Community Garden to help them prepare for Urban Harvest Day

A big hello and welcome to Max, Alex and Jen who joined us for their first ever GoodGym group run.

Last night 5 runners gathered at Adventure Bar on Battersea Rise for an Ideal Flatmate meetup. The mission should we choose to accept it? Run 2.5km to Doddington Community Garden to help them set up for Urban Harvest Day and then run back to base.

Ideal Flatmate is a service that makes flatmate matches made in heaven. They believe that choosing a flatshare is not just about choosing a property to live in, it's about choosing a group of people to share part of your life with. And where better to meet that person but over a giant bramble or a compost bin! Find out more about Ideal Flatmate and the work they're doing to make flatsharing a dream here. If you like someone when they're sweaty from a run and shovelling sh!t, you probably won't mind when they leave some washing up once in a while.

With that in mind, off we set down some darkening alley ways to get to Doddington Community Garden where they're getting ready for a bonanza this weekend - including a scavenger hunt, free food, a quiz and lots of fun. Doddington Community Garden provides a green space for the local community and an opportunity to enjoy and grow flowers, vegetables and fruit.

After a little bit of confusion on arrival we set to work clearing overhanging beds so that there's plenty of space to sit, clearing an overgrown section of thick grass and generally tidying the place up. There were some pretty mega brambles hiding in the bushes!

We worked hard for 40 minutes, hacking, snipping, clearing and weeding. We felt pretty satisfied with what we managed to get done.

Having achieved our mission we thanked Megan and Anthony for having us and headed off home.

We ran the 2.5km there in 23 minutes and the 2.5km back (including a big hill) in 18 minutes 30 seconds. Core! Speedy much!

Thanks for a great evening, see you again soon!
