We were very excited to see Josh turn up to GoodGym with not one, not two, but three of his friends at the sixth session of GoodGym in Barnsley- excellent recruiting. Give that man a cheer!

So we welcomed Dan, Lou and Connor to the gang and gave a good old cheer to Sharon, Lizzie and Suze for their half-marathoning efforts at the weekend.

Fortunately for all those fatigued legs, the task tonight was a grand total of 450m away from Shaw Lane. Every workout needs a warm-up so we didn't skip it, but it didn't take us long to get there. We were greeted by the lovely Andrea who told us a bit about the groups who use the YMCA allotment, a fabulous facility which is going to become an orchard too in the not-too-distant future.

We had a few tasks to complete:

  • Clear the rubble and paving slabs from behind the compost bins
  • Clear out the three compost bins
  • Transport cleared soil to the other end of the allotment
  • Pick all the rotten raspberries off the bushes

The paving slabs were the first to go, with a human chain forming to get the good slabs to the polytunnel and the broken ones to the rubble pile. Then the team divided up to tackle the three compost bins and the raspberry bush.

Sharon was digging like a trooper whilst Josh ended up on wheelbarrow duty, running the single 'barrow as quickly back and forth as he could go.

At one point we had a friendly snail making his way up a rubble sack and we decided he would be our timer for the whole task.

We need this finished before the snail gets in the bag!

All tasks were complete in just 45 minutes, an amazing effort. We celebrated with another massive 450m run and a hardcore hurdle fitness session which included all kinds of jumps, hops, mini sprints and the dreaded hanging leg raise.
