17 big time Hackney GoodGymers ran 4K to De Beauvoir Square to paint our way to victory helping Hackney Parks!
We welcomed our Margarita and Lucia ** for their first GoodGym session and also **Rosie to her Hackney debut!!
Welcoming back Amy after an enforced 3 month absence to celebrate her 50th GoodGym GoodDeed.
Running a bit of a loop through Broadway market and over the hump on Queensbridge Road we bagged 2.5k in no time at all reaching De Beauvoir square to meet Hackney Park Ranger Bruce. Bruce had the kit ready and waiting to get our paint on in the style of a Goths bedroom according to Eva.
Splitting up into 3 groups we got our dub and brush on painting the areas of the iron fence we had scrubbed down last month in the driving rain. Working around the 3 entrances to the park moving gradually outwards we got to have some fun conversation topics while trying to avoid painting ourselves ( we were pretty successful at this apart from Joanna's leg), each other and any members of the public as they walked past.
We painted our way around 100 metres of fencing in 45 minutes doing a great job making the park look great! As Hackney has over 200km of fencing around parks we might get the nod to do that again next month!
With the Ros and Rich wedding just 10 days away Ros wanted to get a bit of a derrière workout in for some last minute fitness preparation. Not wanting to disappoint we went for a high tempo 6 minute Leg and Bum Blast which had our heart rates jumping, legs pumping, and bum sculpting.
After a seriously tough continuous high impact circuit we were all feeling the burn and after saying our goodbyes to Bruce and the kids who joined in with the circuit class we bounded away cutting a direct route back to base where we stretched out and ran off into the night with a fun filled session under our belts.
Next week we are heading out to our Wellbeing Garden project in Stamford Hill, a great project where we are transforming some overgrown waste land into a Wellbeing garden to help the residents with some gardening rehabilitation.
Summer Social reminder next week after the session we will be going out and or hanging out to celebrate a few GoodGym milestones of Amy's 50th and Peters 100th GoodDeeds as well as Ros and Rich's wedding the following weekend!!
Be great to have you along to both the Group Run and social!! If you can only make 1 please still come along!!
Have a great week!
