Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
12 Goodgymers hit the tarmac, took on a 4k run and a endured arm day at Kori Community Centre
Shouts out to Daiana and Callum who joined us for their first GGH session
As we gathered at GGH HQ conversation flowed nicely and increased as people trickled in. We were glad to welcome two newcomers too. Shouts out to Daiana and Callum who joined us for their first GGH session. As the clock drew nearer to 7pm we headed outside for our briefing and warm up. Not in my back yard was the name of the game and it went down well. That did we set off with a quick stop for a bridge pic.
nice little run around the block
This week we were planning on heading over to Living Under One Sun but unfortunately the lovely Sandy was a little under the weather so we headed over to Kori Community Centre to get stuck in to an arm day session. The task involved scraping paint from the railing surrounding the children’s playground at the back of the centre. As we arrived myself and Chris got the equipment needed for the task and it was dished out to the others. I gave a quick demo on how best to scrape the paint. This demonstrated how quickly (40 seconds) you can scrape one single railing. I just wanted to use one of the new scrapers tbh. The tools we were using are specially designed to help scrape quickly and efficiently when used correctly. It really is important that we get our scrape on here as we’ve been doing this task for some time and could do with making good progress - getting it finished and ready for painting. I had one or two incentives up my sleeve. (oh and shouts out to Ollie for bringing along some custard creams for one and all to scoff). Refreshments are always provided when we go to this task as it's not far from my place and I like to share. Aside from this I’d just had a 25k bag of Epsom Salts delivered so being me I wanted to share some of this with the group. Five bags of Epsom Salts up for grabs for the top five railing scrapers (I hope you got home without incident =o and enjoyed your baths guys)
sitting on the job
Everyone chatted away merrily as work commenced. And with a few jokes along the way, including one about sitting on the job, the team was doing their thing. In what seemed to be a flash we had only ten minutes left and a whole lot of chippings to clear up so we assigned a few people to get their cleaning on before we ran out of time. Before long everyone needed to join in as getting the little scrapings of paint, that had pinged everywhere, off of the new rubber injury proof floor seemed more of a task than we thought. That said we made light work of it together. You really can get things done quickly with a team, effort and the correct direction behind you.
exercises were partner assisted
After the clean up we packed away then hit the streets again. We were headed for the war memorial on Philip Lane where we’d be throwing down a circuit. This weeks fitness session was good fun, with a focus on core strength. The exercises were partner assisted so everyone seemed to work really well together and get a lot from it. That done we made our way down Philip Lane at max pace before a sprint finish for the last few hundred yards to HQ. Great effort here guys. All that was left to do now was warm down/stretch and say our goodbyes before heading home for our din dins.
Please sign up to one of our upcoming weekend missions at Kori. We really need to get this one finished soon. Click Here for future missions.
Until next week folks do good – stay fit & look out for the light
