Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Joel Wiles
28 Hackney GoodGymers ran 4K to help St Luke's Church with the gardens and put up posters in every flat Block on the estate.
School was definitely back from the summer tonight! Great to see so many returning faces as well as a bumper group of GoodGym first timers!
Starting proceedings with a happy 50 Good Deed milestone T-shirt for Jack as well as the sad realisation that it was Jack's final run with Team Hackney before he leaves London!
We then headed on on an extended 3k loop out to St Luke's where we met John and Cathleen who were looking after us for the evening. Splitting up into groups to attack different areas of the Gardens plus a mini group helping Cathleen put up posters in every block of flats on the estate.
With 45 minutes and a big group we hit our straps and really transformed the gardens! Leaf mound after leaf mound was pack and stamped down while weeds and nettles were ripped up (with a few war wounds as reward). 50 bags were filled and the gardens were looking much improved!!
With the poster crew cutting it very fine Quiz Master Ros dropped the Question of the Day!!
When was the Baguette first invented???
After a sea of guesses there could only be one winner and fittingly of his final run Jack was only 2 years out, from the correct 1830 answer! Apparently a baguette will be winging its was to Wales some time soon!
A staggered run back to base scrapped us home on time!
Hope to see you all along next week to our Wilton Estate Community garden visit!!
Enjoy your week Team,
Smooth Running
