22 GoodGymers ran 4km and helped Rose Bowl, filling 3 huge sacks of debris, bamboo & weeds!

Right onto what went down last night, after our intro & warm up in the park we headed the long way around to the Rose Bowl - hitting the canal for the last time this year, then going north (through a bit of Hackney shhhh) and along Essex Road to our task - 2.7km done in all - lovely!

Done the Gym - Now the Good!

The Rose Bowl is an amazing local community centre offering services, clubs and activities to people of all ages. They have some amazing green space that needs maintenance - that's where we come in. We split into the following groups:

  1. Team Bamboo - seven people led by Aidan cleared an area of that panda-loved plants! It spreads everywhere!
  2. Team Moss - five people used every tool in their arsenal to scrape and sweep up the growing moss on the pavement. Tough work!
  3. Team Clearing - five people cleared an entire area of roots, weeds and debris!
  4. Team Sweep - four people headed down to the football quad to sweep and collect up the leaves

Everyone worked super fast and enjoyed the ginger nuts handed out! To finish off the task Team Moss lifted a HUGE roll mat from the front of the building through to the metal container at the back. Also everyone worked together to lift, push and pull the three massive sacks of debris, bamboo and waste we'd filled to the front of the building for collection.

30 minutes + 22 GGers = 3 full sacks of waste

Once we said out goodbyes to Clive and the Rose Bowl team we headed back to base the quick way for a stretch and chat about Bucharest and more.

Nice one guys. Sign up here for next week, we will be starting at the Arsenal Hub.

PB out.
