A lovely early morning mission with the Marathon Kids this Saturday!

We started off with a nail-biting game of 'what's the time Mr Wolf' to get everybody's heart rates up, before moving on to some 50m races to awaken the competitive spirit. Once everyone was suitably sweaty, the distance portion of the session began. This involved a 20 minute continuous run around a 250m track, where the kids would collect a coloured band for every lap completed. Not only was this an excellent show of endurance, but their ability to keep smiling despite the intense heat was nothing short of admirable.

Once the final bands were counted and the stickers displaying their totals were proudly attached, the session drew to a close. With the sun still very much shining and the park beginning to fill up with eager kids (parents in tow), we all went our separate ways to enjoy the sunshine.

This really was a lovely session and if you'd like to get involved, these sessions run every 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month at St Nicholas' Park.

The Leamington chapter of Marathon Kids is also looking to restart but is in need of a lead volunteer. If you are able to help out please let me know or email christopher@marathonkids.co.uk directly!
