It was a freezing cold Saturday morning but that didn’t stop 9 Goodgym die hards rocking up to Queens Park to volunteer at the Mid Cheshire Hospitals Charity Merry Mile Event. This year, money raised from all the fundraising goes to the Children’s Emergency Care Appeal at Leighton Hospital. Such a wonderful cause.

Karen, Nigel, Emma, Maurice, Pam, Barry, Emily, Claire & Nicola met outside the café and were encouraged (possibly told, hehe) to put on their Santa hats – we had to get into the Christmas spirit didn’t we?? There was a real sense of Christmas in the air as Christmas songs played over the loudspeaker, snow was blasting out from a snow machine and children and adults alike were mingling with warm drinks in their fabulous festive attire.

Our job today was to stand at the marshal points and ensure that runners were going in the right direction, as well as offering words and claps of support and encouragement. The route was only a mile long, so our duties were soon over but it was lovely to see the festive outfits glide past, along with excited children and parents. A rather snazzily decorated motor scooter also brightened up the park that morning with tinsel and all manner of Christmas decorations hanging from it!

At the end of our duties, we were welcomed back to the café with mince pies and hot chocolate. The perfect end to another fabulous Goodgym community mission.

Well done Goodgym stalwarts. I loved being with you all as always.

Love & hugs Nicola xxx
