SESSION ORGANISER
Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Benjamin Annear
Welcome to Costa del Cardiff! Holidays have just got cheaper… you don’t need to go abroad for heat waves, we’ll bring the hot weather to you!
Keep reading to find out if we survived and thrived
This week saw temperatures soar in Costa del Cardiff, however, fortunately we still had lots of regular GoodGymmers attend the group run, eager to go the extra mile (literally because it was our furthest task to date!). We had Aimee, Tom. Laetitia, Michelle, Simone and Jade join us this week for their first ever run with GoodGym (Clap, Cheer, Clap and a round of a pause - - :D ) – It’s fabulous to have you join GoodGym! Alex also joined us from the GoodGym head offices… he’s clearly heard all the good things about Costa del Cardiff too! Alex we hoped you enjoyed this excursion!
It’s safe to say that GoodGym Cardiff is really beginning to feel like a growing family!
Another massive shout out to Samina and Emma for bringing in your documents to be checked! You’re one step closer to getting on board with run missions and coach runs. AND bagged yourself some GoodGym stickers!
After a headcount and lots of clapping for those who were running with us for their first time we put a spring in our step and began the run to Global Gardens Community Allotments. Alex volunteered to backmark, supported by Samina. On our way there we planked, did some single leg squats and some step ups on the curbs... what we did was work a whole range of our muscles! (Lots of Fun in the Sun at Costa del Cardiff!)
When we arrived at the Global Gardens Community Allotments (Which is located by the Gabalfa roundabout), Poppy was there ready to greet us. She explained to us about the Global Gardens initiative and how the task was going to make a difference.
3.2.1... we then got stuck straight in!
We split into smaller groups to complete the tasks; 1 group moved planks of wood (made harder by the precarious nails sticking out), another group bagged compost and moved it to a separate part of the allotment. Some GoodGymmers were weeding and others were trimming the hedges and creating space for another plantation bed.
After spending 30 minutes at the garden allotments time was up. It was SO MUCH FUN! We were all really keen to keep going... but time was up... We definitely got LOADS done though!
We had time for a quick group photo and thanked Poppy (Poppy, our task organiser, was really lovely, she laid on the task for us and helped us stay hydrated with bottles of water). We then made our way back to Yr Hen Lyfrgell. IF you are wondering... the temperature in Costa del Cardiff was still very HOT!
We took the scenic route down through the Taff Trail and into Bute Park - Can we all remember where the entrance is now?... haha. We had time for a quick boomerang photo (This will be posted on our Facebook Page later this week - keep your eyes peeled!), and we also managed to find an adventure playground in Bute Park :D We are big kids! Andie displayed sensational backmarking skills on the route back and Rachel also did amazing at leading the final stretch too - Wouldn't have worked so well without your support! You are stars!
9 of us then went to the Glassworks pub afterwards for a well-deserved beverage and chinwag!
Pun for the Run
On the Facebook Group Ben asked GoodGymmers to come up with the ‘Pun For The Run’. And this week the RunPun-stiltskin award goes to... Samina and Sam - Their suggestions both offered something unique, and combined, the pun was epic!!! Fan dabby dosey!
