12 lovely runners ran 3km to set up for the "Give us a Quid" campaign at the Greenwich and Bexley Hospice charity shop!
It was quite a chilly one last night and a smaller group than usual but I'll put that down to the weather and people being in their taper phase for their big races at the weekend! Loads of races are happening on Sunday.. We've got a bunch of people running the Bournemouth marathon and half marathon, people running the Oxford half, the Royal Parks half and the Shoreditch 10k too so looooads going on! Can't wait to hear about it all next week!
Anyhoo... no newcomers this week but we had Tilly and Saskia back for their second run so that's great! Nice one ladies!
We got warmed up and set off pretty sharpish and arrived at the shop in a flash! We were greeted by the lovely Jane and Sarah who shared with us a bit of history about the hospice and how it was bought for just one pound back in the day! Because the old pound is going out of circulation in a few weeks time, the hospice are running a new "Give us a Quid" campaign to raise money. You can find out more about the campaign here.
After Jane's little speech, we got to work! A creative trio made up of Ben C, Penny and Bliss got cracking with the window display which involved sticking up the signs and hanging up the giant pound coins to attract the lovely passers by of East Greenwich. If this beautiful display doesn't encourage people to donate, I don't know what will!!
Stephen was our hooverman for the evening whilst everyone else tidied clothes, dusted shelves and organised the bric-a-brac! After half an hour we were just about done. The shop was looking nice and tidy again and we were ready to run again!
We said bye to Jane and Sarah and made our way back via the Thames Path stopping off at the beautiful Cutty Sark which always looks so pretty at night time :) The group was split into 3 for a nice little core & glutes circuit! We had people planking and toe tapping, some people pistol squatting and other people stepping up onto the bench... all great strengthening exercises which will do wonders for your running! 2 rounds of 60 seconds for each one and we called it a day. And then I found out that everyone KNEW it was meant to be time trial week but kept this information from me!!! But I thought you guys LOVED the time trial???
Anyway do not fret, we will do it next week, no excuses! ;)
A nice easy jog back to the uni for a stretch and then we were done!
Thanks so much for all your help last night gang! They are always so appreciative of the work we do in the shop so big thank you. We will be back there fore the painting in a few weeks time :) Good luck again to those racing at the weekend! I think it's going to be a record breaking medal haul for GG Greenwich!
