34 GoodGymers ran anywhere between 3-12km spreading the word about Camden in Bloom to 39 community centres - boom!

Welcome to the newbies Robert and Michelle, this wasn't a standard/normal GG Camden night so do come back for more. Lovely to have you along!

In the news this week:

  1. Well done to Lina who completed her first 10km on the weekend at Regents Park 10km - I believe in her and I believe all you guys - just got to train consistently.
  2. It's the GoodGym Olympics this weekend, Camden has 20 runners taking part, we are the biggest team out there! Remember to pay the £3.78 via the link Tom Benson sent through.
  3. Following the GoodGym Olympics is the June monthly social - we're heading to The Grafton in Kentish Town - this will be the olympics after party and the regular monthly social for June. It's in Camden so we'd love to see you all there whether you could make it to the olympics or not! All the details here.

Last night was not a regular night at GG Camden, our task was simple yet complex - we were delivering leaflets and posters to 39 community centres across the borough for Camden in Bloom, which has been running since 1999. It aims to encourage residents, businesses and community groups to take pride in their neighbourhood and rewards them for making Camden a more pleasant, cleaner, greener and healthier place to be.

From Covent Garden to Kilburn and from Highgate to Euston - we covered it all. It was a feat of logistics with 12 groups covering anywhere from 3 to 12km to deliver to between 2-4 community centres each. Make sense? Well it did in my intro (the longest on record ha).

Each group was tasked with taking pictures at each centre and hopefully providing me with a quote from their exploits:

Sophie Cavanagh - "We ran around St Pancras (mostly up and down the same road) spotting hidden community centres!"

Steve Lee - "We wrangled around Hampstead #hills"

PB - "We ran, delivered, did some paired-conditioning and stepped in on a jujutsu class!"

Alex Brown - "We ran past Jimmy Carr's mansion, had a very cheeky fox run across our path in broad daylight and seen the good people of London enjoying all the bars and restaurants of London so soon after last Saturday's shocking events."

Natasha - "I have a bone to pick with you Paul Bown (after running 10km instead of the approximate 6-7km)"

Katherine - "We lost a community centre in Covent Garden - ooooops"

Pritesh - "We had a long and hilly run to drop off our leaflets but we had a blast doing it. We decided to go to the furthest community centre and then work our way back, this was a great plan as Lauderdale House had an arts fair on and we able to refresh ourselves with some...cheese and wine. Top running fodder. We then wound our way back to base - great running with some great people for a great cause!"

Chris - "We ran out to Swiss Cottage and visited 4 community centres. We then opted for a run back through Regents Park and after a quick stop outside the camel enclosure by London Zoo, made our back to base with exactly 10.0km on the board."

Alex Coyle - "We ran and roved around in Fitzrovia, delivering some bloomin' marvellous leaflets for Camden in Bloom!"

Jess - "First timer Rob helped me find my way around Camden - and led us on an intrepid 12km run up over Primrose Hill and all the way to Kilburn"

Well done to everyone for managing to find the centres (although two didn't exist) and making it back to base in one piece. Nice one! We finished the evening with some flag making for the Olympics - well done Rosie for leading on that.

Next week is more of a normal GG Camden group run, we are off to Abbey Community Centre and Cecil Sharp House (new fitness session planned!) - sign up here.

PB out.
