Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Corker of a session. 8 runners. 8 kilometres. 8 smiley sweaty faces AND one handsome community garden.
This week it was cold! And we had quite the run ahead of us but the gang arrived keen and ready to graft. Lovely to welcome new runner Sara - secret desires to run marathons!!
After warming up and signing in at Urban Reef we headed up the big old Marina Road Mountain. At the top was either a fellow runner or just a mirage - bonus, it was Ross joining us!
We dashed east towards Southbourne, down past the mansion-like houses in Carbery Avenue and onto Mary's shed and the start of our task. This week we had been ask to maintain veg and flower beds in the Rookery Community garden. Local lovely Mary stores tools in her shed so we grabbed these and made our way into the gardens and set to work raking over the beds to maintain the upkeep of the soil ready for spring planting. There will vegetable and herbs grown here which the local community can help themselves to. We've been before and really hope we will all go back to help with the planting once we have light evenings again.
Our 'allotted' (pun intended!) 25 mins passed in a flash and the team had worked really well to get the job done.
We dropped the tools back to Mary's shed (which must have looked like the weirdest reverse-robbery to any passers by). Then ran a quite frankly impressive pace back along Southbourne high street (cue chat about the best pubs in town) and home to HQ.
REALLY enjoyed this session with you guys. Good chats, good runs....GoodGym!!
Next week we go West! See you all then, same time, same place.
