Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
On Saturday morning, 4 Goodgymers met at St Peters Community Centre near Broadway Market for a mission to assist with an overgrown garden. We were met by Tahia, one of the Centre's volunteers, who told us a bit about the what the Centre is used for and the project at hand. Fuelled by tea and biscuits we set about pulling up all the weeds and turning over the soil in 2 large beds, assisted by Kamal and a few other volunteers. Within the garden we uncovered some tomatoes, potatoes, spinach, pumpkins and beans along with a couple of mice who had decided to make a nest there for the winter.
Back indoors, we were delighted to find a home cooked lunch of egg curry and rice waiting for us. The 4 empty plates gave an indication of how much it was enjoyed!
Special note to Dave who ran 9 miles to the mission from his home in Wandsworth and for Sarah and Jason for attending their first good gym project - hope it's the first of many!
